1. What this covers

Two separate things: the AltGenie plugin running on your WordPress site, and the altgenie.io website you are reading now. They handle data very differently, so they are described separately.

2. The plugin

What leaves your server

AltGenie contacts an external service only when you have configured a provider and asked for something — a generation, a connection test, a licence check or an update check. Demo Mode contacts no AI provider at all.

Depending on your settings, a generation request may include:

• The selected image, as an inline payload or a public image URL.
• Page context: post title, excerpt, categories, tags, SEO focus keyword.
• WooCommerce context: product name, SKU, brand, attributes, price, gallery position.
• EXIF and IPTC photo metadata, if you enabled that.
• Your output settings: language, tone, character limit.
• Your API key, in the request authorisation.

LemonSqueezy

Only when a licence key is entered or revalidated. Receives the key, an instance identifier and a domain fingerprint. Privacy policy

The altgenie.io update endpoint

Only on licensed installs, when WordPress checks for plugin updates. Receives the licence key, site URL and WordPress/PHP versions.

A webhook you configure

Only if you set one up. Sends the generated text, attachment ID, filename, image URL, provider and timestamp to the URL you chose.

What stays on your server

• API keys, encrypted before they are written to the database.
• Generated alt text, saved to the standard WordPress attachment field — so it survives uninstalling the plugin.
• Settings, history, activity logs, reports and review queue entries.

None of this is transmitted to us. There is no telemetry, no analytics callback, and no copy of your media library anywhere but your own server.

Your responsibility as a site owner

If your site handles personal data — photographs of identifiable people, medical or client imagery — check that your own privacy policy and legal basis permit sending it to a third-party AI provider before enabling generation.

3. This website

If you send a message through the contact form we receive your name, email address, optional site URL and the message itself. We use it to answer you and nothing else.

Purchases are processed by LemonSqueezy as merchant of record. They collect billing details and share with us only what is needed to issue and support your licence — name, email and order details. We never see your card details.

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

4. How long we keep things

• Support conversations: up to two years, so we have context if you write again.
• Purchase and licence records: as long as tax and accounting require.
• Anything on your own server: entirely under your control, removable by uninstalling with “delete data” enabled.

5. Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@altgenie.io and we will action it within 30 days. In the EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

6. Changes

Material changes are reflected in the date above and, for existing customers, noted in the release notes.
