Talk to someone who has read the code.

AltGenie is a small operation, so replies come from a person who actually knows the plugin. Most messages are answered within one business day.

Helps a great deal with technical issues. Staging URLs are fine.

Before reporting a bug

Open AltGenie → Tools → System Health in your WordPress admin and paste the report into your message. It carries your WordPress and PHP versions, the active provider and the last errors — which usually turns a three-email exchange into one.

Troubleshooting

Answers to the common ones.

Generation fails with a quota or limit error

That message comes from your AI provider, not from AltGenie. Usually the free tier for that model is exhausted for the day, or billing is not enabled on the account.

Check the key in your provider’s console first. AltGenie tries a fallback list of Gemini models automatically, so if one is out of quota it moves to the next.

Bulk generation is slow or times out

Lower the batch size in Settings → Advanced. Shared hosting often cannot finish a large batch inside its PHP time limit. Bulk runs are resumable, so a stopped run picks up where it left off.

For very large libraries the WP-CLI command is far more reliable than the browser: wp altgenie generate --limit=500.

The alt text is saved but doesn't show on the page

Some page builders keep their own copy of the alt text rather than reading it from the media library. Run Tools → Page Builder Sync, which pushes stored text into Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Bricks and YOOtheme content. Clear any page cache afterwards.

Can I move my licence to another site?

Yes. Clear the licence key on the old site and save — that deactivates it — then enter it on the new one. If you have lost access to the old site, email us and we will release the activation.

Does it work on WordPress multisite?

Yes. Network-wide provider settings let you configure one API key for the whole network rather than per site. The Agency licence covers it.
